From the beginning I was not a fan of designs that where going to use up large amounts of print material supporting the overhangs or having to compromise on the design to have the layers trace a path down to the printer plate. So my design philosophy has been to break up the model into parts that could be printed up from the bed, and will clip together using pins to holes and will rest in pockets. This also means you can go back to an earlier design and design a new part for it and swap it out or replace parts on a model that have been damaged. I will be showing a few designs in later posts that will show various options to do multi part builds.
